Privacy policy

Who we are

GM Club is a members-only social club in Mumbai, run by [Girish Mahajan] ("we", "us"). We decide how your personal data is used, which makes us the Data Fiduciary for that data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

When you apply: your name, WhatsApp number, email, the area you live in, age group, gender (if you choose to share it), occupation, an optional social profile link, your interests and availability, your answers about why you'd like to join, who referred you, and your photo preference.

If you become a member: an emergency contact (which we ask for at that point), your membership and payment status, the events you sign up for and attend, and photos taken at club events.

When you visit this website: the site uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep basic server logs (such as IP addresses) for security. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.

Why we use it

• To review your application and contact you about it.
• To run the club: announcing events, managing RSVPs and seats, and matching you with events you're interested in.
• To collect membership and event fees and keep accounts.
• To keep members safe, including contacting your emergency contact if something happens at an event.

We use your data on the basis of the consent you give in the application form. We will not use it for anything unrelated to the club without asking you first.

Who can see it

• Club organisers, who review applications and run events.
• Other members can see your name and WhatsApp number once you're in the members' WhatsApp community, because that is how WhatsApp groups work. They do not see your application answers.
• Service providers we use to run the club: Google (Forms and Sheets, where applications are stored), WhatsApp (Meta), our payment provider [RAZORPAY / UPI APP], and our website host. They process data under their own privacy terms.

We never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or pass it to other members outside what's described above. We share it with authorities only if the law requires us to.

Photos

We take photos at events to share with members. We follow the preference you gave in your application: if you said no, we'll avoid photographing you or leave those photos out. Club photos go on public pages such as our website or social media only with the consent of the people in them. You can change your preference or ask us to remove a photo at any time.

How long we keep it

• Applications not approved: deleted within [90] days of our decision.
• Members: kept while you're a member, and deleted within [12] months after you leave.
• Payment records: kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

• ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
• ask us to correct or update it;
• ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent (this ends your membership, since we can't run it without your contact details);
• nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you're unable to;
• raise a grievance with us.

Write to [girish@gmclub.in] and we'll respond within [30] days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Keeping it safe

Application and member data is stored in Google accounts protected by two-step verification. Only organisers who need it have access. We review that access when organisers change.

Age

GM Club is for adults. You must be 18 or older to apply, and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and announce the change in the members' WhatsApp community.
